Worship Pastor Job Description

wORSHIP PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

 
 

Ministry Objective:

To passionately lead in authentic blended worship, through music, that glorifies God

 

Basic Requirements

  • Testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him
  • Grounded in and able to express sound Biblical doctrine and theology
  • Vocal and Instrumental Ability (Piano a minimum)
  • Strong Leadership, Communication, and Organizational Skills

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and supervise all areas of music ministry under the leadership of the Senior Pastor
  • Plan, rehearse, and implement appropriate music for all worship services (Sunday Morning, Sunday Evening, and Wednesday Prayer Meeting) in harmony with the Senior Pastor
  • Rehearse and conduct the adult choir for integration in weekly worship services
  • Rehearse and utilize praise team/praise band and all available musical instruments
  • Recruit members for all choirs, praise teams, etc.
  • Coordinate and train members of the Technology, and Audio/Visual Teams
  • Be familiar with audio/visual presenter tools (ProPresenter) and be able to create and produce announcement/lyric slides for implementation in Sunday services
  • Submit annual budget requests for the music ministry to the finance committee, and oversee budgeted music ministry expenditures
  • Select, procure, and maintain music literature and library. Prepare and organize choir music folders for each service
  • Ensure that the church is in full compliance with all music copyright laws
  • Supervise staff musician. (Pianist)
  • Coordinate with musicians, both from within and without the community, to provide special music as necessary
  • Minister to the spiritual and personal needs of the participants of the music ministries
  • Assist the Senior Pastor with additional hospital, bereavement and outreach visits and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Be active and present in evangelistic and community outreach ministries of the church
  • As required in the personnel manual, work a minimum average of forty (40) hours each week
